Day 1a and 1b casualties

Doyle, Helmuth, Dutch Boyd, Gus Hansen, Michael Mizrachi, Howard Lederer, and Barry Shulman. Out. Ivey doing well, as is David Williams. So my pick, Helmuth is gone. And yes, I did chuckle. Two more days of day 1.

No NEXTEL race this week. Bowyer ran second last night after racing all the way to the checkered. He may have put Hamlin into the wall a bit on the last turn. He at least rubbed him. And rubbin' is racin'.

One week til I go back to school. I will try to do something fun each day this week.

Day 1...Main Event

Today in LV at noon the WSOP Main Event Begins. If I had to pick one player out of the 8000 or so, I take Helmuth. If he wins I look like a genius. When he loses I get to smile.

Thinking about going to see Superman 3D or Clerks 2 this week. Anyone interested? Has anybody sen the new S-Man or Clerks? What did you think?

Yea, I know

Well it seems that I have not blogged in a while. I shall try again.

Update....

This summer has been pretty laid back. I have gone on two vacations. One to Alabama and a surprise trip to Galveston last weekend.

Taco Tuesday has been hit and miss with the disappearance of Nolan and Steph and everyone else's crazy schedule.

Wednesday has been slotted now for Pub Trivia at Baker's St. Pub at 6333 Camp Bowie. (The fish and chips are awesome, but the shepard's pie needs some HP sauce.)

Emma is the best baby ever. She loves her Uncle Mike the best.

Avery has the most hair of any baby ever. She, unfortunatly for her and the rest of us, looks more and more like her daddy. Maybe she will swing back to look like her momma. We can only hope. That hair is awesome. Too cute.

Had started playing NFL Head Coach when I got back, won the first three games and got distracted by doing other things. I like playing it, but I cant talk myself into sitting down and devoting time to it.

NCAA 07 came out. Anyone buy it yet? A game without Brodie. It will be strange not to have him start for us this year. At least for the first three games...until he blows out a knee and we would have some QB who cant throw his way out of a wet paper bag.
I think Demeco will be missed.

The WSOP is almost over. A no-limit tourney ends today, the media event starts today, and the Main Event starts Friday. They say the main event will go on until 8-10.

Here is a schedule I stole from Pokerblog

Friday July 28th is Day 1A. As many of 2,000 players will get the cards in the air at 12 noon and will play, as long as it takes, to reach 800 survivors.

Saturday July 29th is Day 1B. Same numbers 2,000 down to 800.

Sunday July 30th is Day 1C. Ditto.

Monday July 31st is Day 1D. Ditto again.

Tuesday August 1st is Day 2A. The A flight 800 and tbe B flight 800 get together and play from 1600 to 700, again as long as it takes. These players will have had a 2 or 3 day break since their Day One.

Wednesday August 2nd is Day 2B and this time its C&D playing 1600 to 700.

Thursday August 3rd is a planned day off for the Main Event. There will be a $1,000 NLHE bracelet event this day and for the next five days there will be a $1,500 NLHE bracelet event. These events all begin at 10 AM, the Main Event plays each day at 12 noon.

Friday August 4th. The remaining 1400 (700 + 700) players will play down to 600.

Saturday August 5th. 600 play down to 300.

Sunday August 6th. 300 to 150.

Monday August 7th. 150 down to 60. Seems like a short day? If 8,000 enter the Main Event, there will be 80 million chips in play and average stack at the end of today would be 1.33 million. Where will the blinds be? Well that is based on how many rounds have been played on days 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 1B, 2B etc.

Tuesday August 8th. 60 (ten tables of 10) down to 27 (three tables of 9)

Wednesday August 9th. 27 down to 9 Final Table players.

Thursday August 10th. Final Table WSOP 2006 Main Event. Where the average stack could be right around 9 million and the average player could be a complete unknown.

Cardplayer is a website with all of the poker news you need.

Some nobody will win the tournament this year, but I would love to see Daniel Negraneau, Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen, or of course Doyle do well. They are fun and good for the game. Helmuth won his tenth bracelet this year. It would be fun to watch him do well and get beat out when he has AA vs. someones suited 4-7, but I like to see the man in pain.

10 days until school starts.

I will blog again this week with my two great vacation updates.

Sorry it took so long to update Joel.
