I can't believe he is dead. I know that he may have had some problems the last few years, but he still was one of my favorite players growing up. I never understood how a guy with an ass that big could be a great centerfielder. Kirby Puckett, dead at 45.

He was the fatboys' centerfielder.
The whole gal-smacking was unfortunate, but he was a ballplayer not a rolemodel. He took Charlie Leibrandt deep in Game 6 of the 1991(?) Series. We knew that Kirby was .406EX against lefties and Charlie had a 'homerun problem'. Bobby Cox, not so much. Come to think of it, I really hated Kirby for that. Best smile in baseball I can think of. Bastard.
